Understand calculation results

Resona Antenna results help you compare design choices before building an antenna. They describe the model you created, not every condition around a real antenna.

What to look at

• Resistance and reactance show how the antenna behaves at the feed point.
• SWR helps you see how closely the antenna matches the chosen feed-line value. Lower is usually more convenient, but SWR alone does not describe the complete antenna.
• A frequency chart shows how the result changes across a range instead of at only one frequency.

Compare several versions under the same settings. Small, deliberate changes are easier to understand than many changes made at once.

Keep results current

When you edit the antenna, older results no longer describe the latest design. Run the calculation again before making a decision.

Confirm in the real world

Construction tolerances, nearby objects, mounting height, cables, weather, and ground conditions can change the behavior of a built antenna. Measure the finished antenna and follow appropriate electrical, structural, and radio-frequency safety practices.
