Manual values and line references

Choose Custom to enter characteristic impedance, velocity factor and attenuation yourself. You can also choose ideal references or conservative references for RG-58/U, RG-59/U, RG-8/U foam, RG-213/U and 450-ohm ladder line. A reference fills its line-owned values automatically while leaving the load, physical length and power under your control.

Named cable references are transparent approximations, not guarantees for every cable with the same family name. Actual results can vary with maker, construction, temperature, moisture, connectors, age and installation.

Single-frequency result

Enter frequency, load resistance and signed reactance, line length and accepted input power, then press Calculate. The result reports input impedance, input/load SWR, wavelength, electrical length, matched-line loss, delivered power, line dissipation and efficiency.

The Along line table samples the complete physical length and reports local resistance, reactance, RMS voltage, RMS current and net forward power.

Frequency sweep and charts

After one valid calculation, run an evenly spaced sweep with a start frequency, stop frequency and point count. The Sweep table and SWR, R/X and Smith charts use the same result rows. Tables round visible finite values to two decimal places, while copying and export retain full precision.

Working with Resona Antenna results

Resona Antenna can open one selected Feed result in Resona Line through an explicit local transfer file. Line validates the entire candidate before changing its current result. Missing, undefined, stale and incomplete source states remain visible. The transfer does not edit the antenna project or create hidden synchronization between the applications.

Inspectable sources and assumptions

Expand Result provenance to review the source, reference impedance, selected line profile, profile source, analytic assumptions and result state. Manual and imported values remain distinguishable.

Offline and private by design

Calculations run locally. Resona Line does not require an account, cloud storage, telemetry or a network connection. Files are created only through an explicit user action such as export or transfer from Resona Antenna.

Important limits

Resona Line models one uniform line and one passive load. It does not model cascaded line sections, tuners, transformers, matching stubs, connectors, common-mode current, cable radiation or wet-weather effects. It does not synthesize a matching network or guarantee that changing line length can produce a 50 + j0 ohm input.

Results are engineering estimates, not certification of tuning, transmitted power, dielectric breakdown, heating, RF exposure or installation safety. Confirm important designs with cable documentation and suitable measurements.
